I am making new work for an event at HEAL’S on Tottenham Court Road. My new pieces will include 3 Potluck Stools, 2 Painted Marble tables a new collection of Patina Candlesticks. The patina colours were developed in collaboration with Derek Bayley from Bronze Age foundry.
This year Selfridges is exhibiting a collection of works by Applied Arts graduates from the Royal College of Art. My Potluck stools are in the selections of objects on display and for sale, along with Anton Alvarez‘s thread wrapping stool. Anton and I graduated from the RCA’s Design Products MA course in 2012.
The exhibition is curated by Catriona Warren (ex-Editor of Art Review and curator of Anticipation I & II) and Robert Dingle (MA Curating, Goldsmiths, and co-curator of Anticipation II). The works include ceramics, glass, textile design, jewellery, furniture and sculpture.
The exhibition is located in the Wonder Room (ground floor). The show is open until 2nd January 2014

I have been shortlisted for the Ground Floor Project by the Architecture Foundation and The Crown Estate to propose unique works for the entrance of two new buildings in the St James’s neighbourhood in Central London.
Celebrating St James’s’ links to high-end tailors, merchants and craftsmen, six shortlisted designers have been selected to produce designs that highlight and draw from the traditions of making in this historic area. Selected through a nomination process the six shortlisted creative practitioners includes my studio, Formafantasma, Simon Hasan, Philippe Malouin, RCKa and Faye Toogood. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing my process and research on this blog.

Our collective was recently featured in New York magazine’s global design issue. Thanks to photographer Kat Green for taking our portrait picture and Charlotte Kingsnorth for letting us have the shoot at her beautiful home in Maida Vale – as well as cooking us all a lovely lunch. 200 hundreds shots and we got a couple of pics with everybody’s eyes open!

It’s been over a month since my last blog post. September is a mental month in the design calendar. Before you know it, it’s already nearly the end of the year, and the Milan Furniture Fair is rearing its ugly head again. Design has become a rat race! But enough with the moaning! LDF was good fun and well-worth while this year. I and my collective WORKS set up shop in Clerkenwell design quarter. We wanted a smaller, more intimate show after our big outing in Milan, and it paid off – we had visits from the British Council, the Design Museum and design curator/tastemaker Ambra Medda.
